If you already follow me on Instagram (do you though ? … check it out here ) you know I recently spent a week-end in a fantastic desert resort ,

the Al Wadi Resort in Ras Al Khaimah.

For those of you who might not be familiar with the Middle East, you probably never heard of Ras Al Khaimah, so here is a little background information. The United Arab Emirates is a federation of 7 emirates. Some well known like Dubai and Abu Dhabi and others like Fujeirah, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain (I had to Google this one, I can never remember it !) and finally all the way north: Ras Al Khaimah. Each of these Emirates is ruled by a Sheikh and together they form a Federal Council, traditionally ruled by the Sheikh of Abu Dhabi.

With white sand beaches, golden deserts and lush oasis just under 2h drive from Dubai, Ras Al Khaimah (also knows as RAK) is the perfect destination for nature lover and Dubai residents in need of some peaceful, away-from-the-city-time. Sounds just like me !

To be honest, I begged A. (my better half) for a week-end in one of the few desert resorts in the UAE for so long, he finally had to give up to my nagging ! Although I had my eyes fixed on Qasr Al Sarab

(Check it here and let me know if your heart skipped a beat while scrolling through the pictures!)

, we eventually booked 2 nights in the Ritz Carlton Al Wadi Resort.

Anyway do not think I forgot about the Qasr Al Sarab … We will definitely stay there at some point !

After a long week in the office, thursday evening finally came, and we drove all the way to RAK, to reach the Al Wadi Resort around 8pm. And OMG, that hotel was worth the wait! With 100 villas, spread out in the dunes, each of them boasting a private pool, the resort manages the impossible of being both massive and highly intimate!

If you are looking for ultimate luxury, privacy and relaxation this is the place, and here are a few pictures I am happy to share with you. What you should expect … biking around the desert, amazing dunes views, wild oryx showing up for breakfast and some ultimate tanning session by your private pool! Although we took a normal villa, there is stunning tented villas, which you should definitely check out. Maybe next time for us !

Check out more about the Al Wadi Resort and let me know what you think.

Ritz Carlton Al Wadi Resort: Around 800 USD / night

How to get there : 2h drive from Downton Dubai to 11km from RAK airport.
